I have tried both of these and I like the clear one better. I have a few friends who really like the metal one, but I found it didn't stick as well. So, probably personal preference ... at least you can try them both out!
I couldn't possibly stitch without my little mini Ultra Thimble. It adheres so well that I've even washed dishes with it a few times...and it was still useable afterwards!
The beauty of the little adhesive dots is that they're reusable over and over again. The heat of your finger reactivates the adhesive and you're good to go.
I haven't touched my 20-or-so other thimbles since I started using this one.
I've only used the clear one but i found i keep getting it stuck on things other than my finger - it's pretty stiff. I'm not sure what the reasoning is behind the shape. A tip I just got from a club instructor was to use a similarly sized dot made up of layers of masking tape. They're flexible to your finger - and obviously couldn't get much less expensive. haven't tried that yet though.

ReplyDeleteI use the metal one a lot and really like using it. I have not tried the clear one but I can imagine it would be good also. Hugs Vicki x

ReplyDeleteThank you all for your great suggestions and information! Kaaren, I had no idea that the dots were reusable!
ReplyDeleteHmm. No, I haven't used those products but am anxious to hear your opinion.
ReplyDeleteThe clear plastic ones are slippery as others have said. I had better luck with the Ultra Thimble.
