Quilting my DJ

I'm slowly hand quilting my DJ, I machine quilted all the sashing with a serpentine stitch as some parts of my sashing weren't as straight as they could be and the straight line of quilting that I started with just looked wrong.

I've been trying to quilt at least one block most days, I thread up quite a few needles so I don't lose momentum once I start the quilting.  I have no particular plan of how I will quilt each block, I just look at them for a bit and let the block decide.

The block above was one of my first attempts at applique, by the time I finished all the blocks I had improved 100%

Its coming along nicely, I like how each block gets to choose its own design.

I can't imagine ever being up to quilting mine!!
I also love how you're quilting each block depending on its design. That will make it more interesting to quilt too.

Pip, I am in awe of you. I have 1 DJ block done. I have a long way to go. The hand quilting looks great in your blocks.

I love your hand quilting. That is a long way off for me though!!
When you joined your rows together did you use one continuous 1 inch strip or did you use 5 inch strips and inch square posts?? Not sure how to do this bit, and I would like to join row A and B together.

Looks awesome! I hope to be able to start quilting in february 2012 and I guess I need a year to do it by hand which I planned.

Julianne, I am not Pip but I did it with one strip to get the size right. That way the quilt will be less wonky in the end. With cornerstones there is more movement between fabrics so to say. But it looks nice with cornerstones!

I can't believe you are doing almost one a day. I'm lucky to get one a month....giggle. I'm too lazy and they wear me out.

I love your blocks and the blues!!
